Bank Of America awards $1 million to Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation – CBS Detroit
(CBS DETROIT) — Bank of America is making a big donation to help Detroit residents get back to work.
The company awarded Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation $1 million for a three-year initiative called “The People Plan.”

The program aims to create a pathway to economic sustainability and develop local talent.
“We are focused on helping to drive this initiative to help Detroit employers find employees and find those job seekers find jobs. We understand that a lot of that will come through training,” Estrella Crawford, senior market vice president at Bank of America, said in a statement.

“Make sure people understand how to get the skills you need to be employed, but also how to show who you are. Resume training, interview training and things of that nature and we know that Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation does an amazing job of preparing people.
More than a third of working-age Detroiters are disconnected from the workforce, according to Bank of America, which is the highest rate in the country.
While more than 22,000 young adults are out of school or work, less than 1 in 4 adults aged 25 and over have earned a post-secondary degree.

The People Plan aims to close this gap and provide gainful employment to residents of black and brown communities.
