Minister of Labor and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige extended warm congratulations to former Deputy Governor and former Acting Governor of Anambra State, Dame Virgy Etiaba on her 80th birthday , saying she embodies loyalty, fidelity and good conscience in the state.

In a statement from his Media Office in Abuja, Senator Ngige described Dame Etiaba as an accomplished pedagogue, a seasoned administrator and an accomplished civil servant, who has rendered selfless and meritorious service to Anambra State and the country in general.

The former Governor of Anambra State extolled Mama Anambra’s forthrightness, honesty, integrity, frankness and boldness, describing her as a role model, especially for women in Nigerian society.

According to him, as the matriarch of the elite Etiaba family in Umudim Nnewi, Lady Etiaba instilled in her children and relatives the good virtues of hard work, good work ethic and fear of God, adding that the seeds she planted in her children have germinated.

Ngige said, “Today your children shine in the careers they have chosen, including law, accounting, among others. You impacted the lives of many members of society as a teacher in different parts of the country before retiring from acting service at Okongwu Memorial Grammar School Nnewi, where you taught agricultural sciences among other subjects for several years. “After leaving Anambra State government services in 1991, you founded the Bennet Etiaba Nnewi Memorial Schools, named after your late husband and legal luminary, and the institution flourished until day, providing the country with some of the best brains in medicine. , law and other professions.

“During your period as Deputy Governor of Anambra State under Peter Obi and at one point Acting Governor, milestones were achieved in social and physical infrastructure. It was during your brief tenure that the Child Rights Bill was enacted. This is in addition to the humanitarian services you have rendered to society.
