Mayor Bowser launches Summer Jobs for Youth application period | WDVM25 and DCW50

WASHINGTON (WDVM) — Mayor Muriel Bowser kicked off the application period Friday for the 2022 Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP), encouraging young residents to apply online.

“For 43 years, Mayor Marion S. Barry’s summer youth employment program has provided DC’s youth with a fair chance,” said Mayor Bowser. “We ask Washingtonians to reach out to the young people in their lives and make sure they know applications are open. We’re also calling on employers to work with us to engage young people this summer and create life-changing opportunities.

“We are grateful to all of our employer partners, who continue to show up for the district’s youth and provide work experience opportunities that help shape our future workforce,” the department director said. of DC Employment Services, Dr. Unique Morris-Hughes. “Mayor Bowser’s continued investments in MBSYEP and our strong partnerships with employers will allow us to serve 14,000 young people this year and prepare them for economic independence and career success.”

Applications for this program will be accepted until February 28, 2022.
