Outside employment form due by August 31

Together with the Office of the Provost, the Research and Innovation Division supports Provost and Board policy by reporting outside employment with the form available at https://vcfa.uark.edu/fayetteville-policies-procedures/vcri/4040-appendix-c-2021.pdf.

U of A Compliant Board Policy 450.1 and as stated in Academic Policy 1450.10, “full-time faculty and unclassified administrative staff may engage in outside employment for remuneration provided that such employment does not interfere with the employee’s duties (e.g. by creating a conflict of interest or commitment) and provided the employee receives written approval from their Head of Department and/or Dean prior to hiring.” This was accomplished in a new admissions system integrated with InfoReady as implemented for FY21.

What was not included in the new InfoReady system was the establishment of the declaration of payment of outside employment. Specifically, in Campus 404 Policy and Procedures, it is stated,

“All salaried employees of the University on regular full-time nine-month or twelve-month contracts are required to file with the Rector a statement showing income in excess of $500 earned from a single source during the past calendar year as salary or wages or as fees or payment for professional or consulting services rendered to any state public body other than the salary the person receives on a salary basis Each of these individual sources with income over $500 must be reported. If the cumulative total exceeds $500, but income from no source exceeds $500, no report must be filed. This includes the payment of adjunct teaching on another campus or unit of the University or services rendered to another state agency.

To do so, each employee receiving payment as described must complete the outside employment form found at https://vcfa.uark.edu/fayetteville-policies-procedures/vcri/4040-appendix-c-2021.pdf. This must be completed by August 31, 2022 and returned to [email protected] to support institutional reporting.
