Program Director – The Center for Digital Equity (3 positions)

Job summary:
The Program Director is a full-time, benefits-eligible position that provides program and project management for Queens University of Charlotte’s Center for Digital Equity (CDE) and its community board work streams. The Program Director (PD) is responsible, under the direction of the Deputy Director, for directing all aspects of the assigned work streams, including as a senior project manager on developing, supporting and executing the strategies of the CDE and its community council. This role establishes and maintains an active, visible and engaged presence to maintain and develop strong collaborative relationships with the Community Board, community partners and internal stakeholders. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a single work week. The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $65,000.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program and project management

• Work with local agencies, nonprofits, businesses, and campus departments, under the auspices of the Deputy Principal, to support digital inclusion, outreach, programming, and planning efforts
• Lead effective planning, organization, resourcing and execution of large and small programs/projects through to completion (for example, this could involve ordering computers through a vendor and tracking full delivery of the laptops to Queens, and supervising students on a rotational basis as they prepare the laptops for each workshop)
• Analyze and resolve problems and implement effective solutions and exercise good judgment and discretion with sensitive, difficult or confidential material and situations
• Analyze and troubleshoot program/project components of the Center for Digital Equity to arrive at a logical plan of action while knowing when to seek support or assistance
• Work with the Deputy Director to learn about outreach and advocacy opportunities, and commit to continuous learning on digital inclusion issues
Community involvement
• Engage diverse constituencies across differences in race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic class and ability
• Build relationships, manage relationships at different organizational levels and exercise tact/diplomacy when working with internal community members, as well as exercise cultural competence with internal and external community members
• Co-lead all aspects of community engagement events, including marketing, staffing and overall logistics.
• Create and share stories about programmatic efforts, internally and externally
• Collaborate with community and campus partners to connect and invite Queens University students to meaningfully participate in the Center for Digital Equity’s programmatic efforts

Experience, knowledge and skills required:
• At least three to five (3-5) years of experience in program management, project management and/or non-profit management
• 1-3 years of experience in nonprofit or educational organization leadership, program development and/or training
• Demonstrated experience engaging diverse constituencies across differences in race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic class and ability
• Advanced business software skills (primarily Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Slack, SharePoint, etc., and ability to quickly learn college-specific software)
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and experience interacting with multiple constituencies (faculty, staff, community partners)
• Demonstrated organizational and follow-up skills to ensure program/project objectives are met within established timelines and program evaluation/assessment is conducted appropriately
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to create and share stories about programmatic efforts, internally and externally
• Attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness to effectively prioritize assignments and competing demands to meet program deadlines and goals
• Possess high levels of professional acumen, judgment and leadership to serve in a variety of capacities, as required, in the absence of the Deputy Director and/or Executive Director
• Work effectively independently and as part of a team
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience and training, master’s degree preferred

Working conditions:
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours to meet job requirements, including occasional night or weekend work
• Must be willing and able to travel locally within the greater Charlotte, NC area to achieve job objectives
• Work in an office and/or remote environment, involving contact with faculty, staff, students, community members and partners, service providers and vendors
• Work has deadlines, multiple interruptions, moderate volume and can be stressful at times
