SRF has good news and still needs your help

Cream Ridge, New Jersey -11/3/2022 – This young man realized his dream yesterday by adopting Whitesand Hooligan!

Another happy adoption!

This morning he opened his eyes, put on his boots, and rushed off to begin their life of love and making memories together. Also known as Duke, he was another great rescue from slaughter by the Standardbred Retirement Foundation, (SRF) thanks to our donors!

We are receiving many calls and emails regarding our annual online auction scheduled for this month. Unfortunately, this fundraiser is postponed. A new date is planned for 2023. We thank our donors for the gifts and our buyers who have supported this in the past and always appreciate donations throughout the year.

SRF is organizing a big sale on Saturday November 12 and will have 80 horses to meet! It’s not a holiday event like we’ve had in the past with tastings and other activities, but if you love horses, we’ve got them to meet. Get ready to shop blankets and all kinds of accessories, and shop 15% off our logo apparel for great holiday gifts, and for men too.

We have an indoor area for tack and shopping if the weather doesn’t allow us to be outside. Material donations are also appreciated. Volunteers are appreciated! Supporting that by buying tickets and helping by selling them is more urgent this year than in the past.

Our annual raffle to win $5,000 is ready and mailed to friends of SRF. We are counting on this generosity to fill the haylofts and grain silos to feed our more than 500 trotters and drivers during the cold months ahead. A full belly is what keeps a horse warm.

The cost of feeding a horse has increased by 40%, which is very difficult for SRF this year. The winner will be announced on December 7, 2022. We are delighted to say thank you and to share that our number of foster homes has increased by 62% in 2022! Volunteers, foster homes, adoption partners and our CHAPS program need your help. SRF has four vacancies. This is an unusual year at SRF, we have many more horses requiring skilled and passionate team members. SRF is a 33-year-old non-profit organization that manages 500 needy horses at numerous facilities. Its main farm houses 75 horses in rehabilitation and training. Heading and staying as a keeper is his goal. Bring your experience and passion for horses where you will have the most impact. The location is in Cream Ridge, NJ. CoachJob description: F/t and P/T Evaluate new horses; train under the saddle; meet potential adopters; help with the return; supervising new horses arriving and those leaving for their new homes; and other horse-related responsibilities. Requirements: At least 5 years of experience with horses, good computer skills and a superior work ethic. Other possibilities include offsite training and adoptions. It’s not a show stable, it’s a stable full of compassion for the horses that SRF helps.

AdministrativeJob description: market (non-remote) for applications; select candidates; manage the horse database; match horses with prospective adoptees, foster family, CHAPS and adoption partners; working with veterinarians, farriers and candidates, and other related responsibilities. Requirements: Our candidate must have a good background of equestrian experience; exceptional computer skills; Organisational skills; exceptional attention to detail; and an understanding of the importance of rescue work.

Director of development– (Possible Hybrid) Job Description: The Director of Development is key to all SRF programs and its funding streams: implementing an annual and long-term development plan and strategies with the Board of Directors; Oversee programs, donors, licensors, sponsors and events; cultivate and nurture our wonderful relationships with current supporters and build on new supporters; conduct research, write grant proposals; manage fundraising events; drafting materials for newsletters and brochures, and solicitations; and other responsibilities related to the development, funding and implementation of SRF’s mission. Requirements: A minimum of 5 years in a non-profit development role, excellent writing and computer skills, knowledge and passion for horses, proven development experience with donors, management donors and fundraising.

Social media management and administrative support-(Possible hybrid) Job Description: Manage all social media, photo and film content, measure results, update information, assist with administrative end of SRF programs. Requirements: Good knowledge of horses. Excellent knowledge of all social media platforms Photography and video skills Marketing experience Ability to write passionate content.
